Cape Town’s famed V&A Waterfront is going from strength to strength with the announcement of yet another new and exciting development due to open on 7 December 2012.
The Shimmy Beach Club is the latest in a line of new developments in the V&A Waterfront that have come to light. Partly funded by Angolan and Chinese investors, Shimmy Beach Club is sure to make an immediate début on the city’s list of elite venues after three years of careful consideration and planning. The exclusive 2 000 square metre property will consist of a private beach, glass infinity pool, a large outside deck area, lounge, champagne bar, wine cooler room, a main restaurant and more. It will be reachable by car, boat and even helicopter.
The owners – Shawn Mace and Seelan Sundoo – have placed special attention on creating a timelessly-designed venue. Patrons will enjoy modern, clean lines, as well as tasteful interior décor and illumination. Visitors will also notice a number of characterising inclusions, such as the front door mimicking that of a piece of the sunken Titanic ocean liner, and lighting designed to resemble sea foam and the Milky Way Galaxy. Combined with the beautiful Atlantic Ocean on its doorstep, and the working harbour with Table Mountain as backdrops – Shimmy couldn’t be better positioned.
Shimmy Beach Club looks set to attract even more people to the V&A Waterfront. Two major international events have already been booked at the Club for December. Clearly, the V&A Waterfront is going from strength-to-strength as a destination. With many new developments in the pipeline for the Clocktower precinct of the Waterfront, these are exciting times indeed. It is fast becoming the office, residential and retail destination of choice for many.
